Fraternity Communications Association

    2010 Annual Awards Competition

The FCA Awards Competition recognizes the top efforts put forth by the FCA members’ organization in all areas of communications. All FCA members are encouraged to participate in the annual awards competition.

The 2010 FCA Awards Competition is sponsored by the Fraternity Communications Association and the North American Interfraternal Foundation.

Award categories fall under two major divisions: Magazine Awards & Communication Awards.

Deadline – All entries must be received electronically or by mail on or before Monday, March 1, 2010. Entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Submissions – All entry forms must be completed and sent by electronic submission. An entry form must be completed for each award category an organization chooses to enter. Abstracts can be submitted for each category to provide information or details that would support your entry. All Abstracts are optional, but not required, and may be no longer than 50 words. A confirmation email will be sent for each category entered to the person submitting the Awards Entry Form.

Judging – All entries will be scored by two or three judges. These judges will be professional individuals working in the education, communications and/or marketing industry. Each judge will be instructed to initially segregate entries into three categories: 1) of particular merit, 2) of good quality and 3) not of competitive quality. They are then asked to rank those in the first group and to prepare comments on the entry form, as appropriate. Judges will be strongly encouraged to provide comments for all entries, regardless of rank, to offer feedback as requested by FCA members.

The 2010 awards will be presented at the FCA Annual Conference Awards Banquet in New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

2010 Submission Guidelines:

Entries will only be accepted from current dues paying FCA members’ organizations.

Entries must have been published between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.

Only one entry per category may be submitted by each member organization.

An entry cannot compete in more than one category within a major division. (i.e. the same entry may not compete for the Writing – News Feature Article (long) category and Design– Feature Article category both within the Magazine Awards division. Entries that would do well in both these categories should be considered for entry in one of the Story Packaging categories).

Magazine writing category entries must be submitted as text only with photos and graphics removed. Sidebars, pulled quotes and headlines may be included.
